What is it?

The Lightning Process (LP) trains you to reset and reconnect useful nerve pathways, breaking the cycle of unwanted patterns. The seminar-style training course will teach you how to move out of your stuckness, by using your brain’s ability to rewire and rearrange itself.

·       You learn HOW you can influence your own health, emotions and body by using techniquesbased on the way the brain and body interact.

·       You can apply the Lightning Process (LP) strategy at any time of the day - YOU sit at the control panel of your mind, body and brain. 

·       You’ll learn and apply The LP with ease, tailored to meet your own capabilities and needs. I’ve had both 9-year-olds and 80-year-olds in the same seminar group.

·       The training programme is supportive, interesting and inspiring. Change is usually fast, transformational and life-changing because the body knows how to heal. I teach you to step up, step out and step on!

A section of the training teaches you how to coach yourself, in order to change your state quickly – anxious to calm, tired to energy, pain to comfort  for example.

This exercise can be in your head or standing up and moving into different positions, so your brain wakes up.

Step One: NOTICING in the PRESENT

 Am I stuck,  looping or noticing a symptom?

 Is this the best state to be in right now for what I’m doing or about to do?

Is this sustainable or do I want to change it

I decide the next step.

Step Two – I  Pause and say ‘Stop’ or …

·       (Say it  softly for a calm state, energetically for more active states)

·       I choose to - step/flip/move into this - way/pathway/side. That or This

·       I move my body and head – changing my posture and facial expression. Turn 45 degrees and push that old state away. Stop.

 Step Three – encourage myself with my inner coach/voice/me

‘You can do this, well done, believe you can, it’s ok, moving on, you are on track…’

 Step Four – WHAT DO I WANT ?

What do I want instead of ‘that ‘ ?

Examples:

 Instead of.. Tired, exhausted

 I want ..Energy

Vibrant, alive, vitality, to be thriving

Instead of.. to be painfree

I want .. comfort and ease

Other useful words for states:

Healthy

Functioning nervous system

Calm messages flowing in and out.

Calm, tranquil, serene, quiet, still

Relaxed and confident around…

Confidence

In the moment, light and clear headed

Present, in the now

Clarity

Focus

At ease

Like a …..? feather/wave/lake/waterfall/lion……

 Step Five – Strengthen the state by

I’m taking myself back to that time when I experienced this very feeling……..?

Or

I’m imagining a future me or scene where everything is going to plan.

Or

I’m ‘borrowing’ from someone or something – a character in a book/movie/athlete…?

Anchor (meaning enhance that feeling) by a gesture or body movement. Look up. Stand tall. Shoulders back. Walk outside.

Behind the scenes your brain will be busy adapting and changing - looking for other examples of this state all day. This is neuroplasticity.

Calm, peaceful and energised.

How does it work?

How does it work? Through neuroplasticity, your brain can heal and change in ways you never thought possible. The Lightning Process equips and empowers you to take charge of a process in your body called, The Physical Emergency Response (or PER). Often, our body enters flight or flight (PER) when it doesn’t need to. Being in a constant state of fight or flight (PER) is detrimental to our health and wellbeing. With practice and application, you can change the way your nervous system responds to the world around you. You learn to switch on the pathways that allow healing and repair.

Neuroplasticity

Neuroplasticity is the brain's amazing ability to change according to how it is used. Decades ago, it was once thought that the connections in the brain were permanent. However, scientific research is teaching us that the brain can quickly and effectively change, shutting down pathways when you stop using them. Old pathways which enforce old ways of thinking and poor health can be replaced with new, more useful pathways. The implications of this are far-reaching, and the Lightning Process is right on the cutting edge, using neuroscience to help people live lives they love!

Who is Dr. Phil Parker?

Phil Parker is a researcher, practitioner and the pioneer founder of the ground-breaking Lightning Process training. Dr. Phil Parker completed his PhD in the Psychology of Health at London Metropolitan University. In 2021, he won the ‘ANLP Inspiration Award for outstanding contribution in the field of NLP’ and in 2022, he won the ANLP ‘NLP in Healthcare’ Award. 

His science-based training programme has seen well over 25,000 people worldwide change their health and lives for the better.

A New Zealand Medical View

David Doig has practised as a GP for 20+ years. In the last five, he’s referred approximately 12+ patients to The Lightning Process. Of those, most have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome – a condition he describes as “devastating in terms of its effect on people. It’s a physical illness that frequently renders patients incapable of doing their normal job, participating in family life, being able to exercise and so on.”

Of those 12, 11 have had positive results. “They have become more confident in managing their illness and, for the majority, participating in The Lightning Process typically marks a turning point for them, from what seems like a progression into loss of life’s enjoyment, to regaining control and starting a recovery process.” The 12th patient, he concedes, “felt it gave them no benefit at all”.

Hawke’s Bay-based​ Doig says the controversy around the training comes from it sounding “a bit magic and strange” as well as there being few scientific trials to prove its effectiveness, or otherwise. “It’s impossible to run a randomised control trial vs placebo for a technique like The Lightning Process,” he says. “Individually targeted therapies are very difficult to gather evidence for – participants either know they’re doing it, or know they’re not. And anecdotal evidence doesn’t carry a lot of sway in the medical community.”

But, he says, the proof for him is patients whose lives have improved after completing the training.

That’s because the brain can, in fact, influence your immune system and hormone systems and potentially you can start to heal problems that have perhaps become ingrained. Your internal and external language can shape the structure and function of the brain. From my perspective as a clinician, if you can afford it and if I know it’s not going to do you any harm, and if it makes your experience of the disease more manageable and more positive, then that is a benefit I would like you to have. I don’t like withholding things that work.”
