What can you do to move from ‘stuck’ to ‘I’m ok’.
I can remember the time before I found my way forward, when my head ran so fast and full that there was no space to just ‘be’. (Of course I was running a ‘grief loop’ but that’s another story).
In any moment, you have a choice to make a change - and yes at times that really, really feels insurmountable. Remember though, if you can get into ‘that’ place - you can get out of it. Just fill it with useful stuff! Here are some suggestions.
STOP whatever you are doing and pause for a moment
Say - ‘wait’ or ‘stop’ or ‘hold up’ or whatever you like
Look up
Drop your shoulders
Take a step forward
See a bird, a picture, a smiling face, a photo…….
Say a kind thought to yourself. Imagine it’s your older, wiser you talking - ‘You got this’, ‘I’m with you’ ‘Let’s do this’..
Do something differently - one thing - anything- in this very moment (sing a song, put the radio on, take a shower and lower the temperature slowly, take your shoes off and walk on grass (feels great), text a friend, tidy a place, make the bed, put something different on, pick a vegetable (if you have a garden plot of course) or go down to the market and buy real food, watch something funny, dance, look at a photo that makes you smile.
Pause and take yourself back to a time when you were calm or energised or confident or happy. Just be in that very moment. What do you feel and see and hear??
See your future you. Take a moment to imagine the future you - living as you would like to be.
There are so many more ideas and these are a few to get you started. You may like to suggest your own ideas.
Enjoy shaking up your neurology.
